LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR VISITS HERITAGE PARK

The Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, the Honorable Stephen Point OBC, made a visit to the West Coast Railway Heritage Park on May 14, 2008. He was given a tour of some of the exhibits and facilities by WCRA's President & CEO, Don Evans, and met all the staff and volunteers who were on the site at the time. He also had a chance to talk to many guests, making their Heritage Park visit especially memorable!

His Honour was particularly impressed with the Royal Hudson, where he sat in the cab with our steam lead Andy Faris. The new Patricia Anne model railway car was also special, and Chris Forget put on a great show of operating model trains. Of course, the classic 1890 business car British Columbia was also cause for a 'wow"!, and the visit to the Brightbill Heritage House was ably led by Donna Fourchalk, where His Honour signed the guestbook. After the tour the group returned to the Mac Norris Station for coffee and mingling with staff, volunteers and guests. His honour was presented with a Royal Hudson hat.

Departure came all too quickly, but there was time for a unique conveyance to the park gate - aboard the West Coast Mini Rail where he paused to look at the construction of the new Roundhouse and Conference Centre underway before continuing on his way to an appointment that evening in Whistler.
