The West Coast Railway Heritage Park offers educational class programs year-round!


Group Tours
The West Coast Railway Heritage Park welcomes group tours for guests who are interested in touring the Park privately. One of our experienced guides will gladly provide your group with a guided tour of the Roundhouse, and 12 acres of Park space including our many historic railcars, Mac Norris station, wash-house, print shop and Brightbill House. You are welcome to bring your own food and have a picnic outside or have a pre-booked lunch at our beanery or tea at Mac Norris station. Contact This email address is being protected from spambots. A Walk Back in Time: Tour of Our Pioneer Village

  • A historic look at Squamish and how it has evolved since
  • A walking tour of our pioneer village, historic Brightbill house and Mac Norris train station, explore right inside these notable buildings
  • A day in the life of Pioneers, how locals lived with live demonstrations including working printing press, wash-house, and blacksmith forge
  • A historic overview of our rail-cars and the role they played in building Squamish


The Building of Western Canada: How Immigrants Traveled from the East

  • A history of how Canada was built in the West and the journey of European immigrants migrating from their Eastern seaports
  • A discussion on how this relates to immigration today
  • A walking tour inside our locomotives that moved immigrants across the West to their destinations and the challenges they had in adapting to Canada
  • A hands-on demonstration of some of our archived items from settlers themselves and those that worked on the railway


Train Car Analysis: A Look at the Different Types of Rail-cars and what they do

  • A history of our rail-cars and their roles including who lived, worked, and traveled in them
  • A walking tour inside our all of our rail-cars:
  • Up to 5 diesel and steam engines  up-close including the majestic Royal Hudson
  • Our vintage mail car. Experience first-hand how it gathered and delivered mail across Canada
  • Passenger Coaches – the Alberta, British Columbia car and our historic Colonist Car that was instrumental in bringing settlers to Western Canada.
  • Wooden and steel cabooses
  • A comparison of all our trains and their advances in technology
  • The detailed illustrated restoration of these rail-cars


Train Technology: The progression from Diesel to Steam

  • The important history of how the diesel locomotive replaced the steam locomotive
  • A detailed hands-on tour inside our diesel and steam locomotives including their differences and a detail of their technology
  • A hands-on demonstration of some of our archived train items
  • The detailed illustrated restoration of these rail-cars
