A Visit to the West Coast Railway Heritage Park - What You Will See

Snowplows - CNR 55365 / PGE 6002

Snowplows served the railways for over a century and a few remain active today, although modern locomotives can plow their own way in most cases. Two men operated the plow when it was in service. It was not uncommon to have to use 2 or more locomotives to push the plow through drifts as high as the plow itself. Fewer snowplows are needed now as the powerful Diesel locomotives are fitted with plows and can push through all but the deepest snow.
