ROYAL TRAIN / ROYAL HUDSON ARTIFACTS SOUGHT

The WCRA is seeking artifacts from the 1939 Royal Train or from CPR Royal Hudson locomotives to be part of our new Royal Hudson exhibit at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park. Work on the creation of this exhibit is moving along under the care of our acting archivist Bob Hunter. The new feature exhibit will open in June, before the start of the Save the Royal Hudson Excursion season. Bob asks that you contact him regarding any items you could loan or supply. (R.H.)

The Royal Hudson exhibit will be a professionally constructed portable panel exhibit, that will aid in the fundraising for the Royal Hudson Preservation Fund both at the Heritage Park, as well as at other venues and shows. It will tell the story of the CPR Hudson class locomotives. It will also feature the Royal Connection link, displaying the original of the letter from the Queen Mother about saving #2860 (thanks to member Brian Deegan for the loan of this item), along with memorabilia and artifacts from the 1939 Royal Train. The story of the endowing of the title “Royal” on the streamlined CPR Hudsons is one of the more interesting and unique stories to go with the history of 2860 and her sisters.
