Our Collection
ARCHIVES
The archives of the West Coast Railway Association are dedicated to preserving all material that helps tell the story of railroading in British Columbia. The collection is divided into three departments.
  • The museum collection includes over 3000 artifacts that can be accessed for displays, live demonstrations or movie and film production.
  • Our library collection numbers over 600 books and 2500 magazines.
  • The archive has reference material that has been collected because of its importance in recording the operation of the railways in British Columbia. This part of the collection includes paper records, newspaper clipping files, and photographs that number near 6000 images.

We are also custodians of archival material from other railway organizations. Currently we are housing the photograph collection and other materials from the BC Rail archival collection and material from Rocky Mountaineer Railtours.

Use of the library and archives is by appointment only. Persons requesting specific materials should summarize their research topic in writing at least one week prior to visiting. Arrangements for research over a basic inquiry may be made on a fee basis.
