GREAT NORTHERN #182

Before you accuse the West Coast Railway Association of fraud this is NOT a Great Northern Locomotive and never has been! Sadly none of the GN Locomotives of this type were preserved We had acquired this locomotive from Proctor and Gamble and it did not fit into our collection plan, but a GN locomotive did.

So rather than scrap it or deacsession the locomotive it was decided to paint it as a GN locomotive and display it as such until such time as the genuine article becomes available.

The locomotive was opened to the public in the spring of 1998 after about 1000 hours of volunteer scraping and painting. The cab is a place where young Engineers of all ages can let their imagination run riot.
