This car has undergone a number of rebuilds during its life. Originally built as a
Compartment Observation car by Barney & Smith the car saw service on the
Transcontinental service of the Great Northern.
Rebuilt in 1926 it became a Cafe Observation car on the Seattle - Chicago run. In 1956
the car was rebuilt once again as a Parlour Observation car and its wood exterior was
sheathed in steel to modernize its appearance. It saw service in the Northwest corridor
and was on the Seattle-Vancouver "International".
In 1973 the car was retired to work service for the Great Northern and later the
Burlington Northern. It is hoped one day to return this valuable artifact of a bygone era to
its 1956 appearance.
